It is a video response system -- where I propose a question and students respond with a video using their phone or devices in the classroom.
And this new school year, I will use Journeys -- to help with a flipped classroom type setting. Students will go through the journey for homework and then in the classroom we work on the new topic and answer more questions.

YOUR DREAM VACATION 2012
Planning a Vacation
In this webquest – you are going to find out how much it costs to take a vacation for a week with your family/friends (4-people total).
1. First, you need to pick a vacation destination. You can choose from one of the following places: Honolulu, Hawaii, New York City, NY, Orlando, FL or Los Angeles, CA.
2. You need to figure out how much money it will cost you to drive to the airport. You need to find the miles from Vernon to DFW airport (and back).

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECT - APRIL/MAY 2010
Financial Responsibility Project
OK.. its time to be all grown up. Use the links below to find a job. Now here are your rules. You need to pretend you are a high school graduate - about 19 years old - you are looking for a full time job in the Texoma area (Vernon, Wichita Falls, etc. NOT Oklahoma). While most of you plan to go to college and get a degree.. for this assignment, you will not have a degree -- therefore, you will not be able to find a job as a Doctor or Lawyer or even a Teacher. And the salary you should be looking at will be in the $10/hour range. Before you print off your job description and put it in your Finance Folder you need to get your job approved by me. (this will be graded - so don't goof off).

Print out the living arrangements and make sure to include the square footage, bedrooms, the monthly rent, deposit fees, application fees, and any other expenses (and put it in your folder)… No, you can not live with your parents.
For this part of the assignment - you can work with groups (roommates). However, you can not have more than 3 roommates. (each roommate has their own room - no sharing BEDS). Another thing to think about.. if you get a job in Vernon.. but your apartment is in Henrietta.. that will be quite a long drive to work each day... and later we will be using this information to calculate how much gas you will spend going to work.. so think about it. (this will be graded)

End of the first 6 weeks
The first 6 weeks is almost over.
This week we will be focusing on setting up equations and solving word problems. Students can expect another open notes quiz on Friday.
The first 6 weeks benchmark test will be held next Tuesday, September 29th. It will cover everything we have learned this year.
Friday, September 25th is the last day I will accept ANY corrections on failing daily work assignments.
As a reminder, Wednesday September 30th is an early release day.
I will also be offering an extra credit worksheet to students this week - it will add extra points to their quiz scores. I offered an extra credit worksheet last week - and only about 10 students decided to take advantage of it.
